Respite
(Aubade)

Refreshing rain. Much needed
break from empty skies,
thirsty dandelions
reaching high, parched
roads wanting relief,
cattle calling, farmers and ranchers
crying. Thunder and lightning,
a welcome change, raindrops
tripping across the window panes, soggy
wash upon the line, night-crawlers emerge
and life returns.
